How CBD Help With Epilepsy and Seizures
If there is one use for CBD that seems to grab the headlines again and again, it is the ability of the drug to ease seizures in treatment-resistant epileptics. The findings of Dani Gordon within her own practices are extremely informative and enlightening.
World-leading expert in CBD - Dr Dani Gordon
Dr Dani Gordon is a double board-certified medical doctor, integrative medicine physician and world-leading expert in CBD and cannabis medicine. She has spoken on cannabis medicine at the UN and to government bodies. She believes that CBD and the wellness revolution can change lives. Dani trained the first UK physicians in cannabis medicine, consults for government groups, companies and international organisations on cannabis and is a founding member and current vice chair of the UK Medical Cannabis Clinicians Society (MCCS). Now living in London, Dani has been featured in numerous publications, including Vogue, Forbes, the Sunday Times and the Guardian, and has appeared on the BBC and Channel 4.
Dani explains that Epilepsy can be described as a broad group of brain conditions involving seizures of many different types and causes. She reports that, regardless of the exact type and cause, high CBD cannabis can help reduce seizures, often dramatically, and even where modern drug cocktails have failed. Dani reports to have found these results time and time again first-hand with her patients in her Canadian Practice and also in the UK when advising on treatment resistant epilepsy cases and in certain forms of childhood epilepsy.
How CBD allowed her patients to return to school
Dani reports that many childhood epilepsy sufferers were found to be undertaking enormous doses of drugs and steroids, which caused side effects ranging from mood changes and even psychotic episodes in some more extreme cases as well as having an impact on growth and development. In her own personal experience, these children went from having no hope of a normal childhood to getting seizure control for the first time in years by adding high-CBD medicinal cannabis oil to their treatment. In many cases, Dani also found that this allowed them to come off all of the steroids and many other of the drugs whilst keeping seizures to a minimum. In fact, taking the high-CBD allowed her patients to return to school and a normal life.
CBD Transforming Lives of Patients
Although life transforming for these patients, Dani reports that thousands of children can still not get access to this type of treatment, despite the growing body of evidence and support of its effectiveness.
The way cannabinoids, and CBD in particular, stop the abnormal firing found in the brain with epilepsy patients is not yet fully understood on a micro level. However, Dani explains that current research points to many different brain effects from cannabinoids, including neuroprotective effects, anti-inflammatory pathways, end effects on many other proteins and even serotonin pathways.
